Hi all.
I'm recently new to OpenOffice which i'm using on Mac Os X Panther. I'm wondering if its possible to do cut & paste to native Mac applications. Actually i'm able to paste into OpenOffice but if i select and copy some text inside the writer and try to paste it into some other application like Text Edit it works only if the selected block of text is very small. Is this a know limitation or i'm missing something?

Thanks.

Clipboard data exchange is limited to 128 character plain text copy/paste.

According to the readme, there's a 128-character limitation. As I recall, it seems to manifest itself only in one direction, though, as you described.

If you require better clipboard support, give NeoOffice/J a spin. It interacts with the native clipboard instead of the X11 based clipboards and has much better transfer capabilities.

Just to add to what Ed has said, give NeoOffice/J a try - it runs natively in MacOS X and bypasses the need for X11. It uses all the standard Mac keyboard shortcuts, fonts and printing backend etc.

However, it is still based on OOo 1.0.3 and hasn't yet been updated to the 1.1.x codebase by Patrick Luby (who is developing it). But that is only a problem if there is something in 1.1.x that you absolutely need that isn't present in 1.0.3.
