Recently upgraded from OOo 1.0.3 to 1.1.2. I have an ibook 10.2.8. My printer is HP-PSC 1100. I used to be able to printer Writer docs when using OOo 1.0.3. With OOo 1.1.2, I can print docs brought in to Writer which were created by any other sofware, but when I create a Writer doc with the new OOo 1.1.2 software, the printing process grinds on and on, printing a line or two every so often. I never wait to see how long a one page doc would take because the wait is so extreme and doesn't compare to ordinary printing time. Is there a way to print docs made in 1.1.2 to my HP-PSC 1100? Thanks.

Can you try using the "Export to PDF" option and then printing the resulting document from Preview? If that prints at normal speed with the right fonts and the like it may be possible to do a workaround. AFAIK there's nothing drastically changed with OS X specific printing in 1.1.2; it may be a generic postscript generation issue.
Exporting to PDF resulted in very tiny print and putting second page on the first page but to the right in a second column, but only after long delay.
Perhaps my printer is the issue. The HP-PSC1100 is a very low end printer that is not mentioned among the PSC's in the supported printer list for OOo on the mac. I was just wondering if there could be a workaround but it doesn't look good, does it.

OK, if the PDF export is looking really bizarre then that may be the source of the problem.
When you print, can you choose "Generic Printer" from the list of printers instead of your HP printer or any of the ones listedn in angle brackets? If you choose that generic option OOo should refrain from trying to read the PPD for the HP printer and instead use the MacShared.ppd file. If the generic printer works and your HP one doesn't, then it's something related to the HP supplied PPD. Canon printers used to be subject to PPD errors consistently with PPDs that didn't actually conform to specifications.
