I leave on vacation August 6. I'll be back on the 20th, although I'll be scrambling to get my kids ready for school.

I'm not taking my computer, and the last week we'll be in the north woods of Minnesota, so I'll be off-line most if not all of the time.

Well, I am on vacation, but I'm not exactly enjoying it at the moment. My son and I both got sick in the middle of the night. Crying or Very sad He's acting perfectly fine this morning, but I'm still not feeling well.

Fortunately, we are at my brother's place and not a hotel. Unfortunately, we are here because my husband is leaving with my brother this evening to go canoeing in the Boundary Waters; the kids and I are to leave tomorrow morning for a hotel for a couple of days to spend time with my mother-in-law before it's time for us to head further north and be rejoined by my husband. All of that was fine until I got sick. Here's hoping I'm better by tomorrow, and that our daughter doesn't come down with it!

Thanks for all the good wishes. I am feeling better today; not 100%, but much improved from yesterday. Aside from driving from one side of the greater Twin Cities (i.e. the Minneapolis/St Paul metropolitan area) to the other; I'm planning on taking it easy today.

I'm back home now. Despite some illness at the beginning, it was a good, restful time. We had excellent weather during our week at a lake resort in Northern Minnesota; a good thing when you don't have air conditioning!

We came back to heavy rains in our area; we heard this morning that a car was stranded in water in an underpass we went through last night; had we been much later, it sounds like that could have been us.

As it was, an exterior stairwell of the church my husband serves filled up with water, which then leaked into the basement. He and my daughter spent a couple of hours last night with some other volunteers pumping out the water. We had heavy rain again in the middle of the night, so they may get to do so again today.

All that is a minor annoyance, though, compaired to the flooding in southern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and further south in Texas, not to mention disasters in other countries.
