Hello & Thanks:

I have just installed neooffice/j on my 15" powerbook. I am having problems with a template file (.dot) that I would like to use as my template for all new text documents.

The graphics get squished. The original graphics are vector (.eps) and there is great output from my colour laser when printing from either word or preview. The problem occurs with neooffice/j and ooo under X11 which I have also tried.

Does anybody know if it is possible to use eps graphics for my letterhead? When I convert these to bitmap (.tiff), the output is not as good - the colour is not as vibrant and the text becomes anit-aliased (or aliased I always get this confused - the text is not crisp, but rather jagged around the edges).

All I want to do with OpenOffice (whether Java or under X11), is to write simple text documents that I can output as a PDF and then send to my friends & customers. But it does not seem to be able to handle graphics or template files.

Any guidance MUCH appreciated...

(I am on the verge of doing the unthinkable and going out and buying office...please save me...!)

Unfortunately, neither Neo/J or OOo can save EPS graphics into PDF. The only support for EPS graphics in either app is the ability to pass EPS graphics to your printer when printing.

Is there any chance that you can snag PDFlib from the Scribu project and promote the use of that? It's a pretty excellent library, allowing production of fully compliant PDF/X-3 documents (at least, under Scribus)
