Hello,

If I understand correctly, there will be no patch to upgrade to 2.2.3, right ?
I regret this situation because we are distributing a DVD with software to teachers in Geneva. We made it in december and it contains NeoOffice. So when they will use it, there will be a message for upgrading, but they have to do the complete install again. Is it an other solution ?

Unfortunately, there is no other solution. The reason that we aren't releasing a patch is that far too many files are being changed in this release so a patch would be pretty much the same size as the installer.

That brings up one other question. What problems is there installing a new version versus a patch? The 2.2.3 installer will preserve any language packs, spellchecker libraries, user preferences, etc. that you have installed. The only thing it won't do is search your hard drive if you have moved your installation out of the default installation location in /Applications/NeoOffice.app.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the quick answer. I understand the reason and i have discovered one interesting thing : i thought that you have to install again the language pack and te dictionaries. If not, it is not a big problems to install a new version.

It is true that when we change the underlying OpenOffice.org version, you must reinstall language packs. However, since NeoOffice 2.2.3 will still be based on OpenOffice.org 2.2.1, the NeoOffice 2.2.3 installer will preserve your existing installed language packs if /Applications/NeoOffice.app is a NeoOffice 2.2.1, 2.2.2, or 2.2.3 installation.
