Hi,

Just wondering your take on the seeming divergence over time of the ooo-build (now called go-oo from the Sun based version. I'm sure there are no short term effects, but longer term, have you worked with these folks? It seems like OO is getting more like a bush than a trunk, and I wonder what that will mean for your integration efforts.

Thanks for a great product that I abuse a lot.

We have been using Novell's ooo-build patches for quite a long time now and we will continue to use them in our upcoming NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access release.

From our standpoint, the tussle between Novell and Sun really does not affect us as I believe that this is merely politics between two large companies and we generally are focussed only on one thing: turning donations from our users into a stable, well-supported product.

Since we are really only focussed only on users and not developers, we only worry about source code licenses. If the license allows us to modify and redistribute the code and the license is GPL compatible, that is all we care about.

Personally I applaud any and all divergence since it gives all open source developers yet more options and features to incorporate into this product. It gives us more options to assemble a product with features users want and need without restrictions due to political or engineering arguments. We take the best of the best and don't care where it comes from as long as it's license compatible Smile
