I emailed St Clair a few hours ago to ask if they knew why Default Folder didn't work with OpenOffice v3 aqua - and they just emailed me a link to an update http://www.stclairsoft.com/download/DefaultFolderX-4.0.9d2.dmg that fixes it - that's what I like to see!
