I have added some new features and fixed more bugs that were reported against NeoOffice/J 1.1 Alpha 2 and so I have posted "Patch-7".

This patch includes the following new features:

1. Drag-and-drop support - You can now drag-and-drop text within Neo/J.

2. Smaller PDF files - When saving documents as PDF, Neo/J will in most cases create significantly smaller files.

You can download "Patch-7" from the following URL:

http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/patch.php

Please help the testing effort and file any bugs that you find in Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.neooffice.org/).

I'm a little confused as I noticed in another thread that you said drag/dropping images wasn't functioning (or something like that), but I find that I can drag and drop images fine within Writer and Draw documents and e.g. Charts in Calc.

Btw, I can confirm that the patch fixes the d&d of e-mail addresses in Writer, so I assume I don't need to send you my samples for the issue I reported in one of the earlier patch 6 threads? When bugzilla is back up do you still want me to submit the patch 6 issue just for completeness sake or shall I just forget about it?

Edit: I can also confirm that the command-key press/jump to insertion location in tables issue I reported in bugzilla has also been fixed. Very Happy

P.S. Just so you know, I was automatically alerted of patch-7 when launching NO/J this time but I hadn't been for patch-6... forgot to mention that yesterday.

You can drag-and-drop images within a Neo/J window, but the OOo code does not support dragging and dropping images between different windows.

I have fixed a few of the bugs that were reported in the forum for NeoOffice/J 1.1 Alpha 2 "Patch-7" and so I have posted "Patch-8".

You can download "Patch-8" from the following URL:

Please help the testing effort and file any bugs that you find in Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.neooffice.org/).

Is the drag-and-drop function supposed to work in the new Beta version? I noticed that there were some announcements about fixing drag-and-drop absence but in my calc it all the same does not work. So I thought - maybe it is supposed to be so?

Drag and drop should be functional within the application only. It's still not possible to drag and drop between NeoOffice/J and other applications.

I've only personally done text selection drag and drop within Writer documents. If you notice that drag and drop is non-functional within the Beta for Calc or other NeoJ docs, please file that in bugzilla so we can look into it. Each drag operation involves "flavors" that may require translation, kind of like the clipboard copy/paste operations for graphics vs. plain text vs. styled text.

Drag-and-drop within Calc should work. Are you trying to drag a column? If so, the way that you do so is not obvious. You click on a column heading and then drag one of the cells. Dragging the column heading only selects more cells.
