Hi all.

I'm having problems with tables disappearing when saving files in in .doc format. I did not notice this problem prior to 3.0.

Can anyone help?

I have bad news. This is a bug in NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code as the same bug occurs in OpenOffice 3.0.1 which NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 is based on.

There is some more information in this Trinity forum thread.

Issue 98553 has been filed against OpenOffice.org to address this bug. If the OpenOffice.org developers fix the bug, the new behavior will get included in a future release of NeoOffice

Unfortunately, our very limited funding and developer resources limits the current scope of the NeoOffice project to keeping a native version of OpenOffice.org running on Mac OS X and fixing OpenOffice.org bugs is outside that scope.

FYI. I have reopened bug 3405 and I have posted links to a test patch that fixes this bug in my last post in that bug.

I found that the sample .odt file in that bug exposes a crashing bug that started appearing in OpenOffice.org 3.0 and we try to fix crashing bugs, even if they are due to an OpenOffice.org bug, as crashes cause data loss.

I fixed the crashing by backing out each change that the OpenOffice.org engineers have made to the Writer application code in the last few months until the crashing stopped. This tedious process took two full days of work, but a nice side effect is that backing out the OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 changes also fixed this bug.

Can you install the test patch in bug 3405 and tell us if the bug is fixed for you?

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 Patch 1. The patch can be downloaded from the following URL:
