Hello!

When I enter in NeoOffice 3 into a newly created table a text like "September 2004" it gets converted to a date in the form "1.9.2004" when the cursor leaves the cell.

This behaviour can be altered by choosing Tools::Options... and then click the disclosure triangle next to NeoOffice Writer in the left hand section of the window. Then choose Table. On the right hand side of the table pane is the heading Input in tables. Under that heading, Number recognition affects whether NeoOffice tries to recognize numerical entries and handle them accordingly. Number format recognition affects whether NeoOffice tries to recognise the format of entered numbers and present them accordingly.

I think it will suffice for you to disable number format recognition. Then NeoOffice will only recognise as numbers data that matches the number format (if any) set for the cell. If you've still got problems then you can disable Number recognition all together but you will need to manually set to the correct number format any cells into which you need to enter numeric data.
