I'm pleased to see that the 'hidden characters appear for a moment when printing' bug has gone away - either in NO 3.0.1 or in Snow Leopard.

You should still see it as that is normal behavior in OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 and I certainly have not had time to rewrite the OpenOffice.org Writer code.
What you are probably seeing is a quick clearing and redraw of the document window. This is a subtle difference in the flushing of drawing operations to the window in Snow Leopard. The temporary showing of hidden characters is happening, but you don't see it because Snow Leopard (or Apple's Java) or clearing the document window so quickly after the hidden characters are drawn.

Thanks for the explanation Patrick. It's certainly not a problem for me, and it does disappear quickly. In fact I had to try it again after yoxi possted as I couldn't remember whether or not it was still happening for me.
