From this thread on the forum. Thanks yoxi for having provided the tip.

I've added the possibility of having three different colors. Does anyone know if it's possible to impose more than 3 conditions in conditional formatting?

English version (you know the usual request Smile Thanks)

TPT Very Happy

Can't answer your question about conditional formatting, though; my Calc knowledge is pretty limited.

Maybe it's worth adding something to the effect that copying and pasting cells from outside the striping will override the striping for those cells. Also, this method doesn't work if you hide rows (or use AutoFilter), as the ROW() function relates to the absolute row number, not the on-screen row count. That is, if you hide one row, you'll get 2 rows of the same colour showing.

OK. That's interessant. I'll add a note concerning these problems.

I today needed to change the color on every third row, so I extrapolated from Jacqueline's great article based on yoxi's tip, and I added a new section to the article to cover it ("Every nth Row"). I added a little bit more explanation of what the MOD function is doing, too, to help people understand how to extrapolate to other values of n.

I also added the section to the French version of the article, in Franglish; part of it is a direct copy of Jacqueline's French, and parts that were completely new remains in English. It would be nice if we could render those English parts into French as we have the time.

(I love that article; someone once asked me how to do some other kind of conditional formatting for them in Excel, and I couldn't figure it out from Excel's help, so I loaded the wiki, read Jacqueline and yoxi's instructions, and got things working in Excel. Crying or Very sad )
