The NeoOffice project is funded entirely by donations from our users. Since over half of our donations come from a small percentage of our users, we have created this forum so that our most generous donors can request new features that they would like to see in a future version of NeoOffice.

Which new feature requests will we add to NeoOffice?

While we wish we could implement all of the new features that our users ask for, our donations only fund one full-time developer so we must pick which new feature requests to implement. Generally, we will implement new feature requests that fit all of the following criteria:

1. Many users must also want the new feature - Some features could be very useful to a small percentage of our users. But since we need enough users to make new donations for us to recoup our programming work, we generally require a dozen or more donors to post that they want a particular feature.

2. The new feature is technically feasible - Not all new feature requests are something that can be programmed by us. So the feature needs to be something that is within our programming skills and can be turned into code.

3. The amount of programming work cannot be too big - Some features could require years to develop. But since there is only one full-time developer, the feature needs to require no more than a couple of months of programming work.

How do I post a new feature request?

First, search this forum to see if any other donors have already requested that feature. If a topic already exists, post a reply that in the existing topic that you would also like the same feature. We generally need a dozen or more donors to post that they want a particular feature before we will consider adding it to NeoOffice so replying to an existing post if it exists is highly recommended.

If no one has requested the new feature that you want, post a new topic in this forum and describe the new feature. Try to be as specific about what the new feature is and how it works. If the feature exists in a different application, please tell us and attach any screen snapshots as that might help us better understand the new feature that you are requesting.

After you post your new feature request, we will reply to your post either with some questions about what you are requesting or how many donors we need to post that they want the same feature.
