This does not change anything for NeoOffice. In fact, prior to Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystems last year, all OpenOffice.org releases were copyright by Sun Microsystems. Sun Microsystems' engineer developed the OpenOffice.org code so when Oracle bought Sun Microsystems, they also go the OpenOffice.org copyrights as well.
The reason that NeoOffice is able to modify and redistribute the OpenOffice.org code is not because we have any copyright to the code. Instead, it is because Sun Microsystems and Oracle have released all OpenOffice.org code under the GNU LGPL license.
The LGPL license explicitly and permanently allows organizations like ours to modify and redistribute their code. The only limitation is that when you modify or redistribute their code, the LGPL requires that we redistribute their code and any of our modifications to their code under only the LGPL or GPL licenses.
