If this suggestion could be implemented easily it would be helpful - it's obviously not worth any extended programming time.

I regularly use Goal Seek in Calc. Say I want to find what value of variable cell $A$1 will make the value of formula cell $B$2 equal to the value of target cell $C$3. The Goal Seek dialog lets me enter $A$1 and $B$2 just by clicking in them, but I have to copy the value from $C$3 manually. Could I be given the option of clicking in $C$3 to enter it instead?

The OpenOffice.org help is pretty clear that it expects you to type a value, not a cell reference, in the "Target value" field so it appears to me that Oracle's OpenOffice.org engineers purposely did not make that field behave the same as the other 2 fields. While this makes me suspect that your feature request may be difficult to implement without breaking some other code in that dialog, I will at investigate its feasible if there are other donors who would find this feature useful.

In order for us to feel comfortable that we will recoup the engineering cost that is needed to investigate the feasibility of this new feature (and to implement it if it is feasible) from future donations, we need to see at a reasonable number of NeoOffice donors post that they also want this feature added to NeoOffice.

If we see at least 15 other NeoOffice donors post support for this new feature, then we will have a pretty good level of confidence that the new feature will generate the necessary donations and and I will then start investigating the feasibility of this new feature. If enough donors post support and I find that the new feature is feasible to implement, at that point I would start implementing it.

Is this a feature that any other NeoOffice donors want to see added to NeoOffice? If so, please let us know.

Patrick
