Hi,
while I opened a recently written Worddocument with NeoOffice/J it showed the correct name at the top line but changed quickly to the name all documents, I create in Word 2001 for Mac, get like a preset name that I have then to change manually. It's like a dot.document.
I have no idea how I could possibly change it in Word and now it results in an error in NeoOffice/J
Any further questions on that, please let me know.

This is kind of a default behaviour I've seen in OOo since the beginning, even X11. Instead of the filename the windows for Word documents tend to try and co-opt the first line of text in the document as the title.

Hi Ed,
no it is like there is a really old docname that was overwritten a long time ago still being "under the surface" coming up when opening the document in NeoOffice/J. The real name is not shown correctly;-(

This sounds like a 'feature' in Word. The document title is not the same as the filename. In Neo/J you can see (and set) the title under File->Properties, Description tab, and I think the same place, or nearly, in Word - I don't have a copy of Word at home, hence using OpenOffce!
If you have this field set to something in a template file, it will copy through into every doc Word creates from that template, and Neo/J will pick it up and use it as the window title. However, it is not used as the filename - if you save the document again, the filename will be whatever it was before (except for maybe changing the extension to .sxw, if you are changing format). In other words, it isn't doing any harm, so you can probably just ignore it. If you want to change it in the .dot file, this is safest done in Word.
I think this feature came from word for windows pre win95, when filenames were limited to 8 characters, and something more descriptive for a title had to be stored within the document. Word could search a disk for a .doc with a given title field.

thanks for the information;-)) Nevertheless it is still annoying seeing the not active name of the document at the top. Would be cool to change it in the future;-) But I know that is PRIO lower than low;-((
Changed from MicrosoftOffice to NeoOffice just today and hopefully it is better;-))
