(Déjà vu; I remember reporting this bug in the NeoOffice 0.x or 1.x era Wink )

Dragging from the Data Sources pane to a document doesn't work in NeoOffice 3.x (I tested 3.2.1 with Patch-3-Test-2, 3.1.2 with Patch-9, and NeoOffice 2.2.6 Patch-5; it works only in the last one); 10.5.8 Intel. I also tested with a fresh NeoOffice-3.0 preferences folder and had the same results.

I was following the "Printing Address Labels" instructions from NeoOffice Help.

STR:

1) File: New: Labels
2) Just leave the default settings in the Labels tab of the Labels window that opens and click the "New Document" button
3) View: Data Sources (this causes the data sources pane to appear in the top of the document window)
4) Click and drag (all in one motion) a column heading into the document (e.g., click on column B's header and drag into the document)

Instead of seeing the drag or copy cursor as in NeoOffice 2.2.6, the cursor remains the same, no drag or drop happens, and the entire column B is selected in the data sources pane.

At least for my purposes, I can work around this bug by pre-defining the fields in the Labels window, but I seem to recall there are some types of data-source operations where you have to work with the data sources pane and drag to the document.

I can reproduce this bug on my machine and since the bug does not occur in my Go-oo 3.1.1.1 build (the code that NeoOffice 3.2.1 is based on), it is definitely a NeoOffice bug.

I have created bug 3673 to track this bug.

I will investigate this bug further and I will post again when I have some news to report.

FYI. I found the cause of this bug and have implemented a fix in the NeoOffice drag and drop code. The bug was caused by dragging an OpenOffice.org object that only has OpenOffice.org internal clipboard data flavors. In such cases, the Mac OS X drag and drop functions saw that none of the object's data flavors match the supported Mac OS X native data flavors so Mac OS X would not invoke any drag and drop calls into NeoOffice.

I have fixed this bug by adding a fake "NeoOffice internal" data flavor so that when this case occurs, Mac OS X will invoke the expected drag and drop calls into NeoOffice.

I have not posted a test patch yet as I am in the middle of implementing resumable download for the patch download new feature request. But once I have that done, I will post a test patch.

Sounds good; thanks, Patrick!

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 3.2.1 Patch 4. You can download the patch from the NeoOffice 3.2.1 patch download page.
