Hey Patrick,

We communicated recently about formula names. I noticed now that in NeoOffice 2014, the names of the formulas are in English on my system, just the way I had set them for NeoOffice 3.4.1.

But the tooltips and help are all in Dutch, so they don't match. Which is fine as long as you know them from earlier work on spreadsheet. I don't suppose there is anything that can be done about that. The tooltips might be better in English, though switching the help text makes no sense.

Anyone with ideas? Now I understand why the option is not officially supported Wink.

Best wishes,
Oscar

This is the same behavior that I see in NeoOffice 3.4.1 and OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 (the version that NeoOffice 3.4.1 and 2014 Developer Preview) are based on. The OOO_CALC_USE_ENGLISH_FORMULAS environment variable is only affects display of formulas in cells. In other words, this is a hack in the Calc formula parser only.

Is there something different than NeoOffice 3.4.1 that you are seeing?

Patrick

I forgot to add that you can force tooltips, help, etc. to be in English even when your Mac preferences are set to a different language using the following steps. Note: this forces all of the NeoOffice user interface to English but it should not change currency and number formatting:

1. Select the NeoOffice :: Preferences menu

2. In the Options dialog that appears, click on the NeoOffice :: Language Settings :: Languages item.

3. Set the "User Interface" listbox to "English (USA)" and click the OK button. To undo this change, set the "User Interface" listbox to "Default".

4. Restart NeoOffice.

Thanks. That is pretty much what I thought.
