first is this article, which if you haven't read, i suggest it.

http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=55

the second is about the 'upcoming events' section on the OO.o site. Two of the four events listed are Mac events... (not 2006 yet...)

What interests me most about the compatibility issue is that, theoretically, StarOffice and OOo should be sharing the same set of filters for M$ documents. The only filters that are closed source and only in SO, IIRC, are the WordPerfect filters. Funny that compatibility should be better with Sun's retail product over the OSS one...

As to the events, yup, there are some European dudes at Apple Expo right now. You should be able to find them in the Education area. Riccardo should be there showing off some of his fully internationalized installers (as opposed to stock 1.0.3 GM which is English main installer and not translated until the second installer).

Both Patrick and I (Ed) will be speaking at the O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference at the end of next month...it's really a nice conference if you're in the area. Aside from WWDC, the O'Reilly conferences are some of the most enjoyable I've ever been to as they're so open and friendly. Hell, you can even walk up to Tim himself and start a conversation. Try doing that with Stevie Wonder!
