Not sure if this is a user error or a bug. I prepared a 3-column text document. and save it as a .doc file. When I re-open the document (in either NeoOffice 1.1 patch 6 or OpenOffice X11), it displays as formatted in two columns. However, the column formatting settings panel still indicates that it is a 3 column document.

If I try resetting to 2 and/or 4 columns, than back to 3, it is again displayed as a 3 column document. But after saving and re-opening, it reverts to 2 columns again.

I tried opening the same document in AbiWord, and it displays in three columns!

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Unfortunately, this sounds like bug 286 (http://bugzilla.neooffice.org/bug.php?op=show&bugid=286&pos=0) which we are still trying to figure out.

If you find any details that you think might help us debug the problem, feel free to add comments to bug 286.

Thanks for the quick response, and the fine software! Not sure if it is the same bug. When my documents "reformat" themselves from three to two columns, no data is lost, just formatting changes.
