Im getting almost to the point of it launching fully then i get a little popup window with lots of boxes in it like a font problem.

Run through the "having problems launching" FAQ referenced at the top of the forum. Chances are you have a corrupted font that is causing freetype to crash and you need to remove all of them and troubleshoot to find which one it is.
