We operate FanFiction.Net, a very large writing based website. Our sizable user base that is inline with the core target of OpenOffice/NeoJ.

Since earlier this week, we have started to push OpenOffice to our PC users, and NeoOffice for our mac users on our homepage.

We host the NeoJ image on our own servers with hotlink protection/bandwidth throttle to prevent overloading our network.

So far, we are averaging 3+ Mb/s on the downloads thought we do not keep track of the number of downloads of neoj vs opeoffice.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Thanks for mirroring Neo/J!

One suggestion, though, would be to urge your readers to install the latest Neo/J patch from our patch download patch. This will help cut down on the number of duplicate bugs that get filed in Bugzilla.

Boy did I have a lot of typos in that post.

Thanks for the tip Patrick. Putting up the patch right now.

Btw, is the .dmg image pre-compressed? The 60mb size bloat vs openoffice install is rather large. No biggie but I hope it doesn't get any bigger. =)

The reason that the Neo/J binary size is so much larger than the OOo binary is that Neo/J includes localization for 12 languages whereas OOo only includes English.

FWIW the OOo X11 binary is larger due to inclusion of all of the support packages needed to provide services missing for X11 applications on Mac OS X like printing, fonts, etc.

The NeoJ dimage weighs in at nearly the same range as OOo Mac OS X (X11), IIRC.

I notice that you are still listing/hosting Patch-5, while Patch-6 has been out for a week or so now.

Patrick and Ed aren't turning out new patches every day or even every week (perhaps once a month), but it's probably helpful if you sign up for the Neo/J update list to keep apprised of new patches (see this page) or even simply point your users to the patch page which will always have the most up-to-date patch.

Thanks again for the recommendation and the "mirror" for your users.

I sent xing a private e-mail several days ago but I have received no response. Maybe xing is on vacation?
