Hi all,
I would like to know if OpenOffice 2 will be ported on MacOSX with X11 or without (by NeoOffice or OpenOffice Aqua).
I tested it, well the beta version, on Windows XP, and i can tell you that it rocks. I think it will be a lack if it won't be ported. Well personnaly i will even pay for this version to be ported Shocked

It is allready there.

For example, you can look at
http://ooo.lab-project.net/~ebachard/MacOSX/2.0/

Yes it is nice. Yes it is quite fast...
Yes you can contribbute and donate to support the dev team efforts...

Hi again,
I visited the website you gave me, it seems to work as well as on PC, but as i don't have any mac computer for the time being (i'm a futur switcher, who just needs to be sure that OOo 2 works to switch) thus i cant' know if it works that well.
On the Macosx port website, it's written that porting has become slower and that OOo cocoa won't be available before a long time, so i suppose it's the X11 version for which there are some screenshorts. So what about the non-X11 version (i don't mean NeoOffice) ?
Oh and by the way, just one "l" for "already" Very Happy

Actually, Patrick will move NeoOffice to the 2.0 codebase on two conditions:
- He has the financial resources to support himself in the time it takes to do the move
- There is an X11 version that is stable (both in terms of crashing and in terms of API development) and working reasonably well.

Until then, you'll have to wait for and work on the X11 version. AFAICT currently works, but is not very Mac friendly.

I just downloaded OOo 1.9.93 for X11 from http://ooo.lab-project.net/~ebachard/MacOSX/2.0/ today, and it comes in a single installer package - no longer the 30 separate packages to be run together - hooray!
The app itself works fine, apart from an applescript error message after quitting.

Anyone complaining about the size of NeoOffice should note that OOo 1.9.x is 60Mb larger again...

Everybody building 2.0 is using a different packaging method--Eric B, Maho, and Pavel Janík--so depending on where you download, you might end up with the 30 packages, a single package without BeginOOo, or a single package with BeginOOo Smile

Oh yes, that makes sense - now that I think of it, the one I d\l'ed last was from a czech site.

This one has a wacky and charming French splash screen with a seagull that looks suspiciously like it popped out of an Asterix book - and some weird alien pingpong rackets... de quoi s'agit-il?

This splashscreen is different, just to inform the user it's an unofficial build.
Our designer is Ben Bois, from the francophone OOo project.
