Hi,
I am having 2 small problems with my NeoOffice.
1. No word wrapping
For some reason, the program does not break the lines at the proper spot.
I have searched with the help file with the key words "wrap" "break" "word wrap" "line break" yet no helpful information seems to appear.
2. Spelling check does not work
I was having these problems when I was using one of the earlier beta version, and I thought it is something known and would be corrected in the next version.
Until recently, I reinstalled my system and downloaded the latest 1.1 Release Candidate Patch 4 version, and the problem remains.
I am using OpenOfficeOrg on 2 other computers for quite sometimes but there is no such problem. I would like to check if I should do something to fix my NeoOffice or it supposes to function this way.
System: OSX 10.3.9, with all available Java patches
Most likely, both of these problems are arising from the same issue: the document's language setting is missing or is not the same as your preferred language in the System Preferences application.
Since NeoOffice/J supports multiple languages (OpenOffice.org forces you to pick one and only one at installation), these two language settings can sometimes be different. Take a look at the following post. It is lengthy, but it does explain how to change the language settings for both new and existing documents so that spell check will work:
Once you have the language settings for your new and existing documents so that spell checking works, the word wrapping should also work as word wrapping will occur in different places depending on which language the document is set to.
The problem is solved.
The steps I used were:
1. set system default language to English.
2. reinstall NeoOfficeJ
3. Set default language for the program as English USA
4. Set system default language to whatever desired.
And it turns out both word wrapping and spelling check is now working finely!
