I updated my application yesterday to Neo/Office 1.1 Release Candidate and then upgraded with NeoOfficeJ-1.1-Patch-0.dmg. Now I can not save documents. Get the following message:
Error loading BASIC of document
file:///User/blahblah/Applications/NeoOfficeJ.app/Contents/share/basic/FormWizard/script.xlb/:
General Error.
General input/output error.

Help please. Thanks.

woopit:

You need to get the Release version of NeoOffice/J and then apply Patch-0. You patched a release candidate with a release patch which probably broke NeoOffice/J/

Here's what I think is happening. From the error message, it seems you had moved a previous Neo/J installation from the /Applications folder into an Applications subfolder in your home folder and so all of your user preference files refer to that new location.

Then, when you installed the latest Neo/J, it gets installed in the /Applications folder and you are running it from there. The only way to undo the problems created by moving the location of your earlier installation is to move your current installation Neo/J to an Applications subfolder in your home folder and running Neo/J once. After that, you might be able to move Neo/J back to the /Applications folder.

Patrick-

Yes, I had some kind of dupe Applications thing going on. I trashed EVERYTHING Neo and started from scratch... and now it seems to be working fine. The only problem I still have, as I did when I used Microsoft word is figuring out how to print an entire width of a spreadsheet document . I have to do a save as PDF and fit to print. Can't figure out how to do that right out of the program. I know it's something about selecting cells-->view page break, etc.. but haven't mastered it. Thanks 4 your help.

If you select File>Printer Settings... and choose your layout and paper size, NOJ will display the borders of the printable area on the spreadsheet (similar to the View>Show Page Break Preview, but the sheet remains editable). You can then resize columns or rows or charts to fit that area.

If you want to change the page margins first so that you have a bigger area to work with, select a cell (it won't work if you have a chart selected) and select Format>Page and the Page tab in the resultant dialogue. Be sure not to exceed the minimal margins of your printer otherwise you may experience cropping.

HTH

Edit: My bad... I think you probably need to go to Preferences>Spreadsheet>View and check the Page Breaks button as well. These will show up in your sheets once you have selected your Printer Settings... values. You'll get slightly thicker grey borders around the printable cells that represent the page dimensions.

Cheers,

Jonathan
