A couple of years ago, a friend of mine and her friends from undergrad were working on some sort of "serial" version where one of them would a new chapter each day, in rotation. I think they got about 10 days in to November....
I should brush off my novel ideas, but sadly I don't see it happening....

there is no time like the present. moby dick was written in the ten minutes before dinner while he waited for his wife, each day.
don't let it slip you by. =)

got about 1200 done last night, not great, but a good start. on a side note, i should probably look into some of those 'better' word count things for openoffice, see what they are like. |

Andrew Brown's word count macro is very good (scroll down the page a bit to find his stuff...) I've got the word count set to cmd-K and it does a very nice job - even counts words in a selection.
The only thing to watch out for is with paragraph counts (if you care about those); it counts every para break, so if you're like me and use 2xCR to break paras rather than setting something in paragraph styles, it'll count both CRs as paragraphs. But this won't impact on your current frenzy...
