I have been giving NeoOffice/J copies out and have had a few people say that after they load it, it tells them it is a 30 day trial... Ever hear of such a thing??? What's the deal and is there a different download I should use??? My copy works fine with Mac OS 10.4(Tiger)
Please respond to enorman66@aol.com |

Please respond to enorman66@aol.com | I don't believe for a moment that it's NeoOffice that's giving that notice...what else was on the distribution? _________________ Gib Henry |

As Gib notes, it shouldn't be Neo/J giving that notification; the only notification Neo/J gives are the registration dialogue on first launch (which will take people to the Planamesa Software website if they choose to register) and the patch-check notification (which is disabled in 1.1 final). Something that is interacting with Neo/J could be causing the message, although I can't think of anything off-hand that would be doing so.
You should be distributing the official disk image; see the NeoOffice CD Distribution & Trademark Usage page in the wiki for complete details.

Sounds like they distributed one of the alpha/beta copies and not the final 1.1 version. They had a disclaimer stating they had a limited life.

I don't think so...the only thing they had was patch-check enabled.

Hmm...the most common "30 day trial" thing I hear from folks with Macs is something that tries to set up the ".Mac" settings. Perhaps the patch check is starting the internet connection on the machine for the first time?
We haven't put any time limit in any of our downloads, either OOo or NeoJ.

Snapz ProX has a 30 day trial limit (fwiw, .Mac is 60 days), but it would be very obvious if it was that. _________________ PBG4, 1.5GHz, SuperDrive, 1GB RAM, 128MB VRAM, 5400rpm 80GB HD, MacOS X 10.4.5
