I only just noticed the comments attached to the NeoJ announcement.

At what point will it be appropriate to publicize NeoJ (and Neo)? I think 0.7 is certainly good enough for people to look at it and kick the tires. The clipboard thing can be worked around and printing is almost there.

I considered posting a Slashdot.org story about NeoJ 0.7, but I decided Ed, Patrick and other site admins might not appreciate the massive traffic hit.

Let us know what happens at O'Reilly...

I had been thinking of doing the same at MacNN forums but decided against on the basis that Patrick appears to be the only "full-time" developer at present (for Neo/J, that is) and I didn't think he'd appreciate a potentially huge increase in bug reports of the "ughh, copy/paste doesn't work!" variety Wink

Once copy/paste is sorted, then I think it would be well worthwhile making some form of announcement as it would help counter the "OOo isn't going to be native until 2006" pronouncements that you see whenever it and MacOS X are mentioned in the same breath. You never know, it might actually attract a few more people that can develop other than largely useless end-users like me Razz

Well, thanks to jake and others the site hits aren't as bad now since we've got mirrors that we can round robin to Smile While I was at osxcon I used neoj exclusively, and definitely think it's moving along. It really is Patrick's call for when he wants to push it into the limelight.
