So, we had a haxie discussion not too long ago somewhere in that 26+ page thread on the performance patches....

In that regard, this blog entry from the head of Bare Bones (BBEdit, TextWrangler, etc.) and the comments are illustrative.

Very interesting article. I agree with both sides - Users need to be ... Prompted politely (but FIRMLY), and Developers have the right to request that Hacks / Haxies be removed to determine where the problem lies.

Is there someplace on Trinity/NeoWiki that fully list all the aplications found that have been shown to cause problems with NeoOffice (APE, Haxies, background processes like Seti and Folding@Home, and a couple of others I can't remember)?
It's quite a list and if there was a summary of Patricks reasons and those that BareBones points out, it would be ... a "little" easier requesting Users to understand what the problems are. I keep looking for ways to gather up the many discussions on a problem and put them in a single list/Wiki so that Users support can be reduced, at least a little. A little pain now can save some support effort later?

Philip ( did you RTFM before you reported a problem? Can you hear me Now?!? Razz )

How about adding them to the Trobleshooting Tips article I've started?

Absolutely. That's how most of the stuff got into the wiki (and how some of us got addicted to the wiki!). The challenge is getting people to read/search the wiki (or even trinity) first Wink
