I too installed NeoOffice/J after failing to be able to work with OpenOffice. Now I want to uninstall OpenOffice, but the Uninstall application will not open. Can I simply dump OpenOffice?

Yes you can simply dump OpenOffice, regardless if it is 1.x or 2.x. For 1.x you have to drag the OpenOffice 1.x.x folder to the Trash, for OpenOffice 2.x you have to drag the OpenOffice.org2.app (you may not see the .app extension) to the Trash. This should remove all of the files used by OpenOffice.

If you want to dump the OOo2 preferences as well, they're in a hidden folder in your home folder, called .openoffice.org2. See the wiki page for how to delete this if you're not sure how to get at hidden folders. I'm afraid it's been so long since I had OpenOffice X11 v1 installed that I can't remember where the preference folder is kept!
