Hello All! Had no troubles installing and using OO on a 500MHz iBook with Jaguar. Works great!

My trouble is, I need to import & convert a bunch of Word 95 and Wordperfect files. OO doesn't seem to have these filters installed by default; at least, it didn't seem to recognize the file formats when I tried to open the files.

How can I install these filters? I don't remember the installer ever asking what components I did or didn't want to install.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

All of the Word filters that are available are installed already. I believe Word95 files are handled by the Word 6.0 filter, but don't hold me to it Smile

Right now there are no WordPerfect filters for OpenOffice.org. They're still in development, and aren't primetime. You may want to try looking through:

http://wp.openoffice.org/filter.html

for more status. I believe it's a project on SourceForge. I don't know what progress, if any, has been made with it, but I know I've never compiled it on a Mac. There was a standalone perl script at one point in time, but I haven't seen references for that in a while.

Thanks for the info! It's a family member that has this need, and I don't think he'll be able to work with the wp project. I'll tell him to use a copy of MS Office to convert the files to Word format.
