I recently downloaded openoffice 2.0 for mac as a .dmg file. So far so good, I have X11 installed and on first launch I just executed the .dmg file that launched openoffice writer.

Later I just copied the whole dmg to /Applications and can now launch openoffice by just clicking on it. Anyway, what bothers me is that I see the splash screen on launch, and later is swriter launched.

How to I properly access the rest of the applications? Should I browse the package contents from an xterm, and launch the rest from the program directory? This works, but is a bit cumbersome.

I can probably make some links in x11 to launch those applications, but I just wonder if there is an easier way? Being a new mac-user I just want to do it the easiest and most convenient way possible.

edit: removed a spelling mistake

openoffice.org is one monolithic program, so when you start it you start all of the parts.

to do something other than writer, simply click 'new' (if you use the icon there is an arrow beside it) and it will list all of the other programs.

ps, this answer and more in the FAQ above! =D

Ah.. of course. Thank you for your response Smile I actually read through the FAQ but didn't really pay attention to the "grey window" question since I thought I ended up in writer.

Anyway, sometimes a solution is really simple. I'm just not much used to simple solutions.. *cough*.
