OpenOffice 2.01 is crashing every time I try to install the add-on thessalonica1.1.uno.zip using the Tools>Package Manager.
Does anybody know another way to get thessalonica registered?
Thanks

I believe that the problem is that Thessalonica does not support OpenOffice.org 2.0.

FWIW, I was able to install Thessalonica 2.0 into NeoOffice 1.2 without a problem (note: NeoOffice is equivalent to OpenOffice.org 1.1.5). However, with NeoOffice 1.2.

Yes, thanks for answering, that may be it. Although Thessalonica works fine on OpenOffice 2.0 for Windows. Did you ever get the package manager to install other add-ons in OpenOffice 2.0 for Mac?
I got Thessalonica running fine on NeoOffice as well so there is no urgency in this matter from my side. I was just curious.
Thanks for the help, bye!

Well, it's me again. I tried to add thessalonica using the unopackage tool in OpenOffice2.0/Contents/openoffice/program, but got the error message that thessalonica is already installed. Removing was no option either since unopackage simply produced aborted attempts. Deleting the Contents/openoffice/share/unupackages/Cache directory didn't do any good either, except giving me another error message when restarting openoffice, namely that another instance of openoffice is accessing my user directory.... Should this other instance be NeoOffice, and does it have anything to do with the thessalonica-issue?

Both of these problems are due to the failed Thessalonica installation. The "another instance of openoffice is accessing your user directory" is due to a temporary file that OpenOffice.org 2.0 leaves after a crash. Normally, when OpenOffice.org exits, this temporary file is deleted. However, if there is a crash, this file will fail to be deleted and you will get the message the next time you start OpenOffice.org. Just ignore this error.

Since Thessalonica crashes upon install, removing it will be no easy task and would have to be done manually by picking through each of the user preferences files. So, I would recommend just moving or deleting your ~/.openoffice.org2 folder. OpenOffice.org will then recreate this folder with default preferences.

Hi Patrick,
you were right about the failed installations. Deleting the directory made the package manager give it another attempt instead of failing right away.
Still neither thessalonica1.1 nor thessalonica2.0 can be installed, but this may be due to me having added another input-method to thessalonica - and I am new and rather clumsy with all this Sad (although it does work in neooffice and the windows version). I have some problems to connect to the thessalonica web page right now, but as soon as that is done i will download an original copy to see if it's my faulty input method.
Also I will try to find some other add-ons to check if I can install those alright.
Thanks for your help and all the effort you put in,
Björn.

Hi Patrick,
that was quick!
I can install an easy example for add-ons I found at http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Search?resultsPerPage=40&query=add+on&Button=Go without any problems.
So thessalonica seems to be the problem, since even the original version does not install (which makes me feel slightly better for disturbing). I will try to get in touch with the author and see what can be done.
Thanks a lot for your help Patrick!
