ok....i'm trying my best to learn how to use Base. i'm very fluent in Microsoft Access and when i opened Base for the first time, it all looked VERY familiar. but here's my problem...i've got a table created, no problem. i've got a form created, no problem. i've got a query and a report linked to it, no problem. but how do i create a button inside of the form to open that report or to print that report?

in case you need it, my system is:

iMac 20" intel / 2GB ram
running NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha Intel

Hi JiXer,

sorry for the silence - there aren't many database & scripting specialists around here at the moment, apparently. As your question concerns functionality of all versions of OpenOffice(.org), you maybe find better help at OOoForum.org, in this case the Base section:

Hi,

You need to open your form in Form Design Mode, which you can access from the Form Toolbar, once the Form has been loaded.

From there, you can create a button, and position it on your form. In order to get it to open your report, you may have to associate the button press event (see the Events tab of the button properties, by right mouse button clicking on your button) with a macro that will load your report for you.

At present, OOoBase is really more geared to database developers who know how to code and script, so there is relatively little hand-holding and automagic creation of things that just "work".
