I have a little app, writen in NeoO2 basic (not by me), which translates LaTeX files with extension .tex into NeoO2 .odt documents. I write in French. If the LaTeX file is encoded in utf8, there is no problem, the translation is good. But if it's in latin1, the accented letters are not translated. I just get a ? instead of the letter.
Can I change NeoO's encoding when the LaTeX file is in latin1 ? And how ?
Thank to anyone who can help.
And thanks to all those who make NeoO so nice and efficient.

I answer me. Maybe the workaround can help someone who writes in languages with those annoying accented characters and who has to open files not encoded in UTF-8.

Menu > File > Open
File type > Text Encoded
Select the file encoded in ISO-8859-1 (or your encoding, of course)
in window ASCII Filter Options choose Western Europe (ISO-8859-1) (or .…)

Then

Menu > File > Save As
File Type > Text Encoded
check Edit filter settings
ASCII Filter Options > Character set > Unicode(UTF-8)

and it's OK.

A bit complicated, but it works fine. Those encoding problems are frequent and boring for non-English speakers (writers…). You can do this conversion in TextEdit, but I wanted to use Neo and only Neo.

Ah, I'd totally forgotten about the "Text Encoded" option. I'm glad you figured that out Smile

I've added you tip to the wiki so that it will be easier (hopefully) for others to find: http://neowiki.sixthcrusade.com/index.php/Converting_non-UTF-8_text_files

Thank you very much. Your text is more thorough than mine and can be very useful.
NeoO can do everything. Very Happy
