PostPosted: Tue Jul 11, 2006 11:47 am    Post subject: Trashing of a document in NeoOffice

I am new to this forum, and new to NeoOffice.

Apologies if this is being posted in the wrong place.

Question: In a list of documents created in NeoOffice, what do I do
to select one or more to be trashed?

I can find no "Delete" option.

Thanks

I'm assuming that you're trying to delete NeoOffice docs from within the Open Document dialogue window in NeoOffice (where there's no obvious delete button), rather than in a Finder window - if so, this is how you delete docs:

• click on the first doc to highlight it
• if you want to select a contiguous range of docs (for example 1,2,3,4 in the list) then shift-click on the last one to select all the docs between first and last
• if you want to select individual non-contiguous docs (for example 1,3,5,7 in the list) then cmd-click on each one in turn
• once you've selected all the docs you want to delete, ctrl/right-click on one of the selected docs - a contextual menu comes up: Delete, which you click on
• then click on Delete All in the next dialogue

that's it - all your selected docs will be irretrieveably deleted, they don't go into the trash can first, so BE CAREFUL!

Incidentally, if you ctrl/right-click on a doc when it's the only one selected, you get the option to rename or delete.

If I've completely misunderstood what you're trying to do, please explain more clearly and I'll have another go...

To yoxi, who replied to my question with exactly the right answer.

I am still perplexed at why there isn't a delete option shown in the
main (Finder) menu, but at least I now know how to do away with one or more documents.

Thanks

no delete in the main finder window? i am confused. if you are in the finder (not in neo) just drag the files to the trash to delete them. or right click and select "move to trash" as well.

...or cmd-click sends a file stright to the trash (in Finder).

Incidentally, if you ctrl/right-click on the OSX Finder window's toolbar, you can customise the toolbar - which includes the option to add a Delete icon onto it if you want one.

I should have let well-enough alone, and not mentioned Finder.

I meant: Usually in a menu bar there's and Edit box with a drop-down
selection to Delete.
