PostPosted: Wed Jul 12, 2006 2:35 pm    Post subject: Using OOoLatex in NeoOffice

Hi,

I'm a new user to NeoOffice, but from what I've seen so far, it's a great program.

Anyway, my problem is that I'm trying to use OOoLatex with NeoOffice (v2 alpha 4 - intel build), and having absolutely no luck at all Sad

As per the instructions with OOoLatex I've installed the convert, epstool and latex2emf, and I can using the command line generate png/eps/emf files from Latex equation files. I've also managed to setup the OOoLatex macro within NeoOffice (aside - I couldn't work out how to assign them to a keyboard shortcut though), and when I run the macro I get both the the OOoLatexEquation and the OOoLatexInline windows to appear.

All so far so good, the problem is however, when I try to generate some Latex equations I just get garbabge. With the inline macro the formula printed to the screen is bascially what I've typed, ignoring the Latex the latex formatting (e.g., \sqrt{x} comes out as sqrtx).

With the equation editor I have even less success, all that seems to be generated is a large transparent box that is off the screen. This occurs if I use any of png, eps of emf.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm completely stuck, and don't fancy importing the latex equations individually from separate files.

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

P.S. I'm having similar problems using OpenOffice as well, so this appears not to be aproblem with just NeoOffice.

Have you tried contacting the developer of OOoLatex? From your post, it sounds like this is either an issue with OOoLatex itself or a bug somewhere within OpenOffice.org code.

The developer of OOoLatex does stop by this forum from time-to-time, but I don't know how regularly he's here. I know some users here use OOoLatex, but I don't know how many of them are here regularly, either. Sad

Perhaps can you download CmathOOo from
http://cdeval.free.fr/
(It's free, Licence GPL.)

Cmath allows you to import LaTeX files in a Neo file and export maths formulae from Neo to Spip. It exports Neo formulae in the clipboard after translating them in LaTeX, framing them with <math> and </math>
For instance, sqrt{9}=3 becomes in the clipboard
<math>${\sqrt{9}}={3}$</math>

Any text is exported, not only the formulae.
Unfortunately (for you) it's only in French. But it's very easy to use and possibly I'll try to answer and to help you. You can post in cmath forum. My English is hmm Sad but I understand quite well.
I hope this helps a little bit.
Actually you can install CmathOOo only in Neo.
