hello. I am noob with mac os and neoffice. so i want help how to type numbers in arabic documents and to get the real "arabic typing" and not the hindi typing. My preferences are set correctly but with no luck

THX

(Note: I moved this to the support forum to get it better exposure. There are a couple of frequent fora visitors that use Arabic and may be able to help. I'm not sure myself)

Open your NeoOffice preferences, expand the triangle next to "Language Settings" and choose the "Complex Text Layout" item, and switch the number format in the "General Options" section. In theory, at least. Sad

I'm not sure that this works properly on Mac OS X, actually, because any time I'm using an Arabic keyboard layout, I get Hindi numbers (even in TextEdit), even if I set Mac OS X to use a Maghribi locale which shows it uses Arabic numbers.

The way you can work around this in Neo is to set the number format to "Arabic" using the instructions above, and then switch quickly to a non-Arabic keyboard layout to enter the numbers.

It's not simple, but it seems like a Mac OS X bug that Maghribi locales don't force Mac OS X to use Arabic numbers rather than Hindi ones Sad

I can try Wink

Thx everybody

As i mentioned in my post "language preferences" are set correctly, with no success.

Arabic users must be frustrated because "Openoffice" is carrying the same weakness and that Micro$oft office doesn't support Arabic at all.

It's hard to be arabic nowadays (in real world too)
