This is what happens:

I had OpenOffice.org1.0.3 installed on my Mac running Mac OS 10.2.8. It was working fine.

I had to create a new user (admin too) for myself on the same machine.

Now I can't open files from MSOffice (get message "unrecoverable error"), or even my old files saved as sxc format (these open as a blank document).

It is not a question os permissions on the files, since I have changed the permitions.

I tried resintalling OpenOffice.org and did not work.

I tried logging as the previous user, and the documents open Ok!

What is wrong with my system?

How do I repair to work?

Thanks!

Yes, there are problems with multiple users on the same machine and OOo 1.0.3. It seems you've already checked file permissions on those sxcs, so chances are it's a full OOo thing. Also check the permissions on "/var/tmp" to make sure it's world writeable. Earlier versions of the OS had it only writeable by root.

I do suspect a complete reinstall of OOo should solve it for the new user account.

When you tried reinstalling OOo 1.0.3 under the new user account, did you uninstall it first? Drag the entire /Applications/OpenOffice.org1.0.3 folder into the trash. The Uninstaller doesn't actually remove all of the files, but removing and deleting that entire folder will clean out most of the files and should get rid of the problem ones.
