Select your range of data in the spreadsheet, then go to the Insert > Chart… menu.
In the dialogue check that the selected cells contain the desired data and click Next >>.
Choose a chart type and click Next >>, choose the variant you want, click Next >>, choose a title, axis titles and click Create.

Is there some sort of bug with the chart button in Calc? When I highlight a range of cells and click the "Insert chart" button in the toolbar, nothing happens. I have to go to the insert menu. I have noticed this issue on OOo in Windows so it must be an OOo bug. |

It may be a change in functionality...I actually don't use the toolbar button that often. This may be a cursor bug...
The way it works is you click the toolbar button then you need to click-drag the outline of the chart in the spreadsheet, then the wizard appears. The mouse cursor, however, doesn't change so it's not apparent that it's waiting for you to click-drag the outline.
Can anyone verify on another platform or X11 if the cursor does change when clicking the "insert chart" toolbar button?

Yes, in OOo X11 (v2.2, anyway) once you click on the Create chart button, the cursor changes to a crosshair-with-barchart - I tried to screengrab it but OSX won't capture the cursor!

Yes it does do the same in OOo X11 2.1. It is most likely a custom cursor we need to add. Please file an issue for this in BZ.

Could this be related ?

I have discovered one small issue with the "formatting paintbrush" icon that appears (or can appear) on the formatting toolbar. NeoOffice's help file says that once you have clicked on the paintbrush once (to copy the style) the icon becomes a paint can and you can click on it again to paste the style to another paragraph, etc. The new icon does not switch to a paint can. The backgroud of it, however, does darken.
I don't see this as a big deal; I figured out what was going on pretty quickly. But given Ed's comment in another thread about the icons I figured it was worth mentioning, even if it isn't worth "fixing."

It probably is in a way because we don't support custom OOo cursors. I need to find the appropriate constant and map this one (at least) to crosshairs.
