I was looking at the Salvaging Settings From Corrupt Preferences wiki page today, and I got to wondering if we should change its name.

The page has expanded significantly since I first wrote it, which is a good thing. Very Happy But the title is not terribly descriptive.

I some input before changing the name. I'm thinking about "Problems with Preferences."

Suggestions? Comments?

It's still almost right; I'd only suggest minor tweaks, like

Salvaging Settings from Old or Corrupt Preferences
Recovering Settings from Old or Corrupt Preferences

or something along those lines. The Backup and "Where are they" sections really only are useful in support of the main part of the article, rather than stand-alone content expanding the scope of the article.

Merci

Ancien me parait très bien Wink

I prefer Recovering Settings from Old or Corrupt Preferences.

I like this option (even though Salvaging was my choice when I first started that page).

My primary concern was that we get questions sometimes about items not importing when someone upgrades, and it would be easy for them to see the current page title and assume it didn't apply to their issue. Your suggestion covers that nicely, and is more specific than mine. Unless there are objections stated here, I'll make the change tonight or tomorrow.

Smile

Ça me convient bien.

Merci pour vos avis Very Happy

I changed the Fr title to

Removed the upper case letters as hi_RAM wished it. Very Happy

That's also coherent with titles on Wikipedia (in English or French). IMO, there is no need to redirect existing pages; we could just decide to use lowercase titles for new articles…

Yes. I did some search on Wikipedia and saw that.

OK. It's the best solution.
