FYI. I saw this announcement this morning:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=660889
Their timing is good and we will be including odf-converter 1.0 in NeoOffice 2.1.
One thing that I noticed in the announcement was that they plan on adding Excel and PowerPoint OpenXML support to odf-converter this year. This is very good news as I have structured the NeoOffice build to allow inclusion of the latest odf-converter code in each NeoOffice patch. So, when odf-converter has bug fixes or new functionality, NeoOffice users will get the changes in the next NeoOffice patch.

Yes, I noticed that they are scheduling Excel and PowerPoint work for inclusion by November of this year. For those who may not be directly aware, odf-converter is the project which is used by ooo-build for providing OpenXML import and export. We're working on integrating odf-converter with Neo 2.1 to provide open/save support for OpenXML.
It's actually quite interesting technologically as well...it's primarily in C# which really has some fun features.

I have heard good things about C#. I guess MS did something right for a change. Credit where credit is due .
Best wishes,

Partial classes are really a brilliant thing both for Java developers who previously always had to workaround and expose public APIs through a layer of interface redirection and for C++ developers (whom it affects more) who had to use a pimpl style separation for implementation in headers.
Partial classes are also the bomb for more modern IDEs where you have form designers or other "wizards" that are generating boilerplate code you really shouldn't be modifying. Now, instead of surrounding it in comments finally there's a language feature to allow the separation of implementation of portions of a class.
It really is brilliant...and a shame it only exists in a pseudo-proprietary Microsoft language

Yeah footnote to the above...
You can do this on ObjC through some unholy use of categories or pose-as-class but I chalk that up to be the same thing as using an Interface "hack" to hide implementation details
