Many thanks everybody.
I can now set up the envelope as I wish.

The first option, dragging from the database is simple.
I like it.

My only problem now is getting the printer to print where I want it on the envelope.
It all measures up correctly in the preview, just as I like it.
I put the envelope in the printer and the Addressee appears at the top of the envelope about halfway along.
The Sender I assume didn't get onto the paper.

I have just checked using A4 paper and the printer is printing for an envelope that is 3" wider.

Many thanks again.

I should mention that, from my experience with Word, printing envelopes is always a really custom thing you have to set up individually to that printer. I don't think any word processor will necessarily work the first time.

But I'd love to see Writer pull addresses directly from Apple's Address Book application. And the reason for that is because one generally will update one's address book and not necessarily spit out (export) one's address list.

The v.Card format is becoming pretty universal now, used by Palm, Microsoft and Apple applications. There ought to be tools like SQL that should be able to query those types of data files.

I am OK with printing addresses now.
The last piece in the jigsaw was the printer driver.

When I updated to 10.4 the printer driver became part of the system.
You need to delete all the old printer drivers and with the printer ON, setup new ones.
That is what I did and it works.

The bonus? I now find I can print envelopes direct from the Address Book.
This is far easier than using NeoOffice and the list is always up todate.
I had tried this before but failed miserably.

Many thanks for your help and encouragement.
