I have just downloaded the latest version of neooffice and I have found that when I create a neooffice text document on my mac I am not able to open it on my PC using word. When I use word to create a word document I am able to open it with neooffice on my mac with no problem. When I create a neooffice text document do I need to save it with a certain file extension or is neo office just for editing word docs?
Thanks for your help in advance!
By default, NeoOffice saves files in its native format (OpenDocument Text, OpenDocument spreadsheet, etc.), which MS apps can't read. So when saving a new file (or using "save as" on an existing file), be sure to select the Microsoft Office formats if you need to open the documents in Word, Excel, etc.
If you're always using documents in MS Office on that other operating system, you can make Neo save to the MS formats by default (in Load/Save: General in the prefs).

Good advice smokey. Unfortunately, it's still and always will be billy's world...
Dear friend, if you think that this is a billy's world you can customise NeOOffice to make it save Writer documents as M$Word document. Simply go to Tools -> Options -> Load/Save ->General and in "Default file format" you can choose any kind of text file hadle by NeoOffice.

P.S. my world is not billy's world since 2002, and everytime I receive a doc attachment I'm still replying with something like what you can find here.
