Hi Pluby!

I thought I would do something a bit odd.... well at least something I had not seen posted on here before.

I have the new 0.8.1 w/the last patch (loving it BTW on the PowerBook). And I wanted to see how well it handled drag and drop opening of documents. So, I take a .sxw of about 68 pages, a .doc of the same thing, a simple .rtf note, an HTML page, and a complex .xls that I have lying around for a game I used to play. I highlighted them all and dropped 'em on the icon.

Worked flawlessly. Opened them all without a hitch and did it in under a minute on the wallstreet. Just thought you might want to know.

One thing you could check is if NeoJ's icon accepts all 'meaningful' files. pluby just threw in a list that I grabbed from CoooL; there might be some missing.

You can read about the old bug here

Here are all of the file extensions in which NeoOffice/J (as of 0.8.1) will appear in the "Open With" list in the Finder. Note that NeoOffice/J is not the default application for many of these file extensions (e.g. TextEdit is the default for "rtf"):

that is quite a long list! I may have to go and find some files with those extensions but I think I have an example of most of them somewhere lying around.

May take a bit to test all of them... my son was just born so I am a bit distracted*L*! But I should still be able to test 'em. What the heck I can't program this is the least I can do to help.

You shouldn't need to test them as I tested most of them. But if you find that there is an extension that is not in the list and should be added, let me know and I will add it in the next release.

BTW, your "open files" test reminded me to test the "print files" feature. Basically, you should be able to drag a NeoOffice/J file to the "Print Center" application and, if NeoOffice/J is already open, NeoOffice/J will print the file.

Well, I found out that this causes NeoOffice/J to not print and sometimes crash. Fortunately, I found the problem and I have posted "patch-4" with a fix for this problem. Download and installation instructions for "patch-4" are in the following forum topic:

Patrick,

there are two extensions, that may be added: pps (Powerpoint Slideshow) and dot (Winword).
