I have done something very stupid... I was working all night -- and got so tired that when my document was finished I clicked on "discard" when exiting NeoOffice Writer. Yes, I know... this was stupid. I was indeed very tired.
My Question: Is there any way how I can recover this unsaved work?
IIRC, the backups get cleaned out when you decide to discard. But you could check the backup folder in ~/library/preferences/neooffice-2.1/user/backup (see your NeoOffice preferences|general|paths setting to be sure of the path).
I am very afraid this will be a painful learning experience to save a document regularly . Everyone has pretty much one of these moments. User interfaces cannot protect you from dumb choices and do not take tiredness into account.
I might be a product from the earlier computer days when crashes were more frequent, but I try to save on starting a project and then have autosave on and also save manually every now and then.
Best wishes,
