NeoPals:

OK, it is taking me a while to grasp this styles thing. Here is what I want to do...

I want to write a paragraph, and then use numbering with an outline style...that is start with 1,2,3 etc., and when going to sub topics, going to a), b), c) etc. Every time I turn on bullets and numbering, it uses a default numbering style, and I have to go to the bullets and numbering dialog, choose outline, and pick the correct one. Then when I stop, write another paragraph, turn on bullets and numbering again, it goes back to the default. How to I get it to default to the one that I want?

The easiest way might be to edit the default numbering and list styles for yourself...

  1. Open up the Styles and Formatting window
  2. Click on the "Lists" formatting option (it's the rightmost in the top left group of icons...kind of looks like a couple of bullets)
  3. Right-click on List 1/Numbering 1
  4. Choose "Modify"
  5. Make appropriate changes from the dialog to change to the style you desire

There is also a Nubmering option in the paragraph styles (you can modify them in a similar series of steps) but I've not had much luck getting it to apply and stick in playing around with it.

Not an answer, but perhaps a start?

Hey, that seems to work! I will use that in the future.

Daniel,

You might find the wiki articles on various styles and templates helpful background. A list of them can be found here
