There are many TV listing sites on the internet. Do the stations in your area not publish their programming schedule?
Also El Gato's EyeTV app hooks into some of them. Setting up a recording is as simple as clicking on the item in the program guide and clicking "add to schedule."
Sorry for the evangelizing. The EyeTV app is better than dealing with set top box interfaces and is a "true" Mac application.
