I've read a few articles about a supposed way of re-installing java with pacifist. Anyone have any ideas about the exact method? |

type in terminal:
cd /usr/bin
sudo ln -fv /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/CurrentJDK/Commands/java ./java
And you'll be fine with patch install |

Are you serious????? I just did a COMPLETE re-install to sort out the problem
Well at least I know what to do the next time it happens. |

Well, that person's instructions will only create a /usr/bin/java command. If that was the only problem on your machine, those instructions would have solved the problem. But are you sure that other files on your system weren't also missing? Since you cannot be sure, reinstallation avoids going through a similar problem for every file that may have been missing on your system.
