How can I get access to the apple addressbook from neooffice 2.2.1 EA?

I solved the problem. You can use the assistant in the menu "Datei -> Assistenten -> Adressdatenquelle". When you open the Data-Source-View, it depends on the number of entries in your addressbook, how long it takes, until every entry can be seen and selected.

It takes a lot of scrolling to see and get access to all of the addressbook entries. An easier way is to use the filter and search for entries. The result will be displayed faster.

As I can see, the access to the addressbook is an import of the Apple addressbook to a different database. When an address of the Apple addressbook will bei updated, you have to reimport the addressbook to a neooffice database to get the changes?

The Mac OS X address book should probably work like the Mozilla/Thunderbird and other supported address books; whether it will update as entries are added to the AB isn't documented in Help (might be documented somewhere else though).

Edit : It looks like the database syncs with the Address Book. I was able to add a new entry to my address book which also appeared in NeoOffice (I had to relaunch NeoOffice though) ...

Actually, I find that turning off View Data Sources and turning it back on works to make Neo resync to changes in the address book.

I was going to suggest that we add a new wiki article on this (or update the existing article), but I see Lorinda has already beaten me to it Wink (and I think the new article route is the best).

Well, the new article is currently just a "latent link" on the New Articles needed page, but at least it's findable. In all honesty, I probably won't be able to turn it into a real article until September at the earliest. If somebody else wants to beat me to it, I won't cry. Very Happy

And thanks, Smokey, for cleaning up my changes to the current Address Book page.

I added a link to Omer Bar-Or's blog on the New Articles Needed page (for reference, although our 'elves' probably already know enough to write the article already) ...

Well, you beat me to suggesting we have a new article Wink (even if you did so on the "New Articles Needed").

Thanks for the link, Samwise. I didn't know about the Mail Merge Wizard connections, so the info there will be very helpful when the article gets written.
